Shimla, June 3: The weather in Himachal Pradesh is expected to remain unsettled until June 7, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds across several districts. Higher-altitude areas of the state may also witness light snowfall during this period.

According to weather officials, an active western disturbance is influencing weather conditions over the western Himalayan region. As a result, many parts of Himachal Pradesh are likely to experience cloudy skies, intermittent rainfall, and thunderstorms over the next few days.

Districts including Shimla, Kullu, Chamba, Kangra, Mandi, Kinnaur, and Lahaul-Spiti are expected to receive light to moderate rainfall at isolated places. In some areas, strong winds and lightning may accompany thunderstorms.

The weather activity is likely to provide relief from the summer heat, especially in mid-hill and lower-hill districts where temperatures have remained above normal in recent days. Day temperatures may fall slightly due to increased cloud cover and rainfall.

Meanwhile, the higher reaches of Lahaul-Spiti, Kinnaur, and other mountainous regions could receive fresh snowfall. Although heavy snowfall is not expected, light snow accumulation cannot be ruled out in the highest elevations.

The IMD has advised residents and tourists to stay updated with the latest weather forecasts. Travelers planning to visit popular destinations such as Shimla, Manali, and other hill stations should carry rain protection and be prepared for sudden changes in weather conditions.

Motorists have also been advised to drive carefully on mountain roads, as rainfall may reduce visibility and make road surfaces slippery.

Weather experts expect the current spell of unstable weather to continue until June 7. Authorities are monitoring the situation and will issue further advisories if required.
