Shimla, The weather in Himachal Pradesh is set to witness significant changes over the coming days. According to the Meteorological Centre Shimla, a heatwave alert has been issued for Una, Bilaspur, and Solan districts on June 9 and 10, while a fresh western disturbance is expected to bring rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds across several parts of the state from June 11 onwards.

Heatwave Conditions to Intensify

As temperatures continue to rise across lower and mid-hill regions, residents of Una, Bilaspur, and Solan are advised to take precautions against extreme heat. Una recorded the state’s highest maximum temperature at 39.5°C, indicating severe heatwave conditions.

Rain and Thunderstorm Forecast from June 11

Weather experts predict that a fresh Western disturbance will affect the Western Himalayan region from June 11, leading to changing weather conditions across Himachal Pradesh. Light to moderate rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning activity, and gusty winds with speeds of 30–40 km/h are likely on June 11 and 12.

Higher-altitude districts such as Kinnaur and Lahaul-Spiti may also experience strong winds and isolated snowfall in some regions.

Temperature Trends Across Himachal Pradesh

The Meteorological Department has forecast a rise in both maximum and minimum temperatures over the next three to four days.

  • Minimum temperatures may rise by 2°C to 4°C

Authorities have warned that thunderstorms and strong winds could disrupt power lines, communication networks and damage weak structures such as temporary roofs and hoardings.

Farmers are advised to:

  • Ensure regular and light irrigation for crops.
  • Protect orchards and standing crops from heat stress.
  • Monitor weather updates for rainfall and thunderstorm alerts.
